| Story: | I recently took a job as a cashier at Walmart. I figured it would be a great side job while I continued my education. When I was interviewed I was somewhat taken aback by there low salary. I'm even too embarrassed to mention it here. They gave me no credit for my experience and I had several years of cashiering. Well I took the job anyway as they promised a 30 cent raise after 90 days. So I stuck to my guns and worked the 90 days and finanally was called in to do my review. During the review I inquired about the raise as the manager had not mentioned it. She looked at me and exhaled and said that she had already lost a good many of the cashiers today. She advised that since this was a brand new store havng just opened, that they were not aware that Walmart had withdrawn the policy of giving raises. So she's telling me that I am going to get nothing? Yes that is what she was telling me. She apologizec and then just went on to tell me to watch my tardies. I went straight back to the subject of my raise. I asked just when were they made aware that there would be no raises and why was I not told then. She advised that yes they had been aware for awhile and then just smiled at me and didn't advise why I was not told. Can you imagine that? I did not return to work the next day. | |||||||||
